Strange Case began in 2016 when High School friends Mikey Netka and Zane Vandevort began playing music with Trevor Smith and Shane Hewitt. The group quickly got to work on writing and recording original material. With Vandevort recording and producing their music, their DIY approach helped them get the ball rolling.
In 2018 Strange Case released their debut album “Purgatory”, and began playing relentlessly in Ventura County and Los Angeles.
In June of 2019 Strange Case released their Sophomore album “Too Bad, Too Sad”. With this record, the band had finally developed a unique sound. With washed out reverberated guitars, infectious melodies, and danceable grooves, Strange Case has created a buzz in Southern California.
The band is currently unsigned, while recording new material and touring California. Strange Case is looking forward to releasing even more music before the end of 2019.
Mikey is the lead vocalist behind Strange Case. He is 21 years old, however still enjoys super heroes and has an unhealthy addiction to flaming hot cheetos.
Zane plays guitar and produces/engineers the bands music. Zane also owns “Surf and Turf Records”, an independent label which hosts many of the bands shows. Vandevort is currently recording/producing other Southern California bands, while putting together events to support and build the Ventura County music scene.
Trevor play drums for Strange Case, and is the proud father of a French Bulldog named “Meatball”. Smith attends Cal State Channel Islands and has a passion for history, geography, and nagging Zane. Trevor’s style of drumming plays a big role in the bands sound
Shane is the lead (and only) bassist behind Strange Case. We think he lives in Newbury Park and he might have a cat.
